Dear students and families,
The 2014-2015 School Year brought with it a lot of changes. As I stepped in as the new Board President, the Board and Faculty found EGLS a new home at the First United Methodist Church of Bellevue (FUMC). Moving a school of our size is a major undertaking, and the Board and Faculty went above and beyond making sure we had all of our needs addressed to find a comfortable and welcoming environment for our parents and students on Saturdays. The Faculty has continued their tradition of professionalism by adapting quickly to the new facility, and we owe our continued success to our excellent teachers.
Looking forward, EGLS is excited to expand our offerings by including two one-week Summer Camps and we are also planning on offering a new weekday half-day preschool starting in the Fall. The Summer Camps will be held at FUMC, and we are still ironing out the details of preschool. Stay tuned for more details!
President of the Board
Liebe Schüler, Eltern und Freunde der EGLS,
Spring is coming and already visible with the first spring bloomers. EGLS is entering the fourth quarter of the school year. Especially for our older students in elementary, middle school students and our high school students it is the busiest time of the year with the Vergleichsarbeit A1, Vergleichsarbeit A2, Deutsches Sprachdiplom Stufe I and German AP Exams in the public high schools. Students and teachers are preparing for reading and listening comprehension, essays, and oral presentations with poster boards and slideshows. We are looking forward to seeing striking test results and impressive presentations. A big THANK YOU to all teachers and parents for supporting our students to make this happen!
This Saturday, March 14th 2014 we had an exciting day for our school. Not only the A2 oral testing was going on all school day long, we also had our consul Julia Reinhardt, consul for culture and press affairs from San Francisco, visiting our school in the morning and talking with students, board members and parents.
The EGLS teachers are looking forward to celebrating their annual teacher dinner at the Rhein Haus in Seattle, sponsored by the EGLS board.
At the end of the school year on May 16, 2015 we will celebrate the Maifest and last day of the school year together and award the A1 and A2 certificates. All classes will perform on stage and we will have a get together with a potluck.
We can look back on an exciting and thriving 2014-2015 year. With our new home at the Bellevue First United Methodist Church we could expand to 11 classes with 97 students and 15 teachers. Our new location also has a room where parents, teachers and students can get together before, during or after class. The fireside room with our new coffee maker and Dani’s Bakery is a great place to meet, chat, and relax.
