Proficiency Testing

 

EGLS offers the Vergleichsarbeit A1 (VA-A1), Vergleichsarbeit A2 (VA-A2), DSDI and the DSDII test from the school board of the German government, and prepares students for German AP and STAMP Test.

 DSD Testing

Since 2009 EGLS is offering three major German language certificates for advanced students. The tests are designed and organized by the German government and are also standard tests worldwide for German language skills.

  • The Vergleichsarbeit A1 (level A1) with a certification from the German Consulate.
  • The Vergleichsarbeit A2 (level A2) with a certification from the German Consulate.
  • The Deutsches Sprachdiplom I (A2/B1): The DSD1 test is a requirement for all foreign students who are enrolling in the German Studienkolleg.
  • The Deutsches Sprachdiplom  II (B2/C1):  This test is a requirement for all foreign students who are enrolling in designated German universities.

All DSD tests include a

  • reading comprehension
  • listening comprehension
  • writing comprehension
  • oral presentation with a special topic.

All individual parts have to be passed.

German AP - Preparation

The German AP test is administered by the US college board. Students 10th grade and older have to request the test at their high school.

This test also contains reading, listening, verbal, and writing comprehension.

 

German STAMP- Test

Many school districts have now implemented competency-based credits for World Languages like German and also offer Assessment Days and award high school credits to their students, based on the results of the STAMP test.

This test also contains reading, listening, verbal, and writing comprehension.
